Privacy Policy and App Permissions

I have never written a Privacy Policy before so this is going to be a work in progress!

  • Hubitat Dashboard doesn't collect any user data

The following permissions are requested in the app

  • LOCATION permission (optional)

    • necessary to use 'auto' cloud mode (app switches between local network and cloud.hubitat.com for remote access)

    • If granted, used to identify the connected Wifi SSID name and compare with the saved SSID to determine if the user is local or remote

    • required to use the location tracking (presence) feature of the app. This is a geofence which will notify your connected Hubitat Hub of your state (present/not present)

      • presence tracking also asks for REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS and ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permissions to make location tracking more accurate

  • CAMERA permission (optional)

    • Used to automatically turn the screen back on again when the app is in screensaver mode

    • If granted, will use the front-facing camera to detect motion

  • QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission (optional)

    • Used to create an app shortcut tile to launch an installed app

  • NFC (optional)

    • Used to scan NFC tags and have the app run an action
